Dr. Advocates For No Medical care after Age 75
You should take everything Dr. Ezekiel ("Zeke") Emanuel says seriously. Especially the subtitle of his latest long essay in the The Atlantic on Sept 17: "Why I Hope to Die at 75: An argument that society and families -- and you -- will be better off if nature takes its course swiftly and promptly."
As a principal architect of Obamacare, a White House insider, a frequent contributor to the New York Times and MSNBC's "Morning Joe," a former director of the National Institutes of Health Department of Clinical Bioethics, and a professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Zeke makes pronouncements on health policy that are likely to become law.
And that means that if he wants to force you and me to "ask whether our consumption is worth our contribution," we better start asking how soon Medicare and insurance companies will demand we justify our existence or be ushered out of this world to preserve America's global competitiveness.
He uses a graph, "Creativity of People With High Creative Potential," to show that productivity peaks at age 40. Clearly the message is that if you are over 40 and have disabilities or diseases that cost a lot, you are consuming more than you are producing.
My reaction to Zeke's article is one of disgust and outrage. Even if he is the smartest guy in the room, he's dumb when it comes to understanding what the average person wants. How dare he claim to know that someone over age 75 who walks slowly, has some memory lapses, and has some medical disabilities and limited resources doesn't deserve to enjoy music, sunsets, or the company of children and grandchildren?
And why will Zeke stop at age 75? When will he and his political cronies -- of both major political parties -- decide that a disabled paraplegic wounded warrior is consuming more than he is contributing?
Emanuel's essay on dying to help balance the federal budget comes not coincidentally on the very same day the Institute of Medicine, of which he is a member, released its report, "Dying in America," which not coincidentally terms fee-for-service medicine a "perverse incentive."
But guys like Zeke want to play God, and that never ends well for society. So get ready to take one for the country. It's your patriotic duty to die when Zeke says it's time to go.

More Anti-Gun Lunacy
'Badass' Moms Take Gun Fight To NRA's Home Turf"
Okay,stop laughing,it gets worse...
BWAAAAhahahahahahahaaaahaaaa....
You gotta be kiddin' me!
This author actually thinks this group of anti-gun zealots is going to have any effect at all on gun laws?
What about the fact that there are 95 million+ gun owners who are not represented by the NRA?
Is this dolt really that clueless?
"With access to Michael Bloomberg's deep pockets and the force of more than 2 million dedicated supporters, Watts in recent months convinced the CEOs of several major U.S. companies to take a stand against guns in their stores and restaurants. "
Pure unadulterated bullshit- ONE store actually told customers no guns-Target-I notice he doesn't bother to mention the fact that Kroger told these twits to piss off.
"It makes our moms feel like badasses to take on the most powerful
lobbying organization in the country," Watts told The Huffington Post
last week."
What? Bwaaahahahahahahhahahahaha.......
As useless as the NRA can be, and has been, these twits have zero chance of having any effect on any gun control efforts-there's that 95 million+ of us who are not represented by the NRA thing again...
"The new push comes after the group lost some big fights to the NRA in
confrontations that underscore the limits of the moms' brand of
volunteer-led grassroots activism -- especially at the state level,
where entrenched gun lobbyists have an outsized voice."
Lost "some" big fights? The truth is lost EVERY big fight .
Since when is Bloomberg's $$$$$= to "grassroots activism"?
What it actually is, is an attack on an enumerated Constitutional right.
"Lobbying disclosure records reveal that at the same time, the NRA was
buying leading Missouri lawmakers lunch: $1,700 worth of food and
beverages in the first half of 2014."
Yeah-I'll bet they bribed the entire state legislature with that whopping $283.33 a month.
You can read the rest here-I gotta stop,my sides are killin' me from laughin' at the dolt who wrote this drivel.

Anti-gun Asshattery Editorial of the Year

Police raid roundup
In a case we’ve been following here at The Watch, an Illinois judge just ruled
that police in Peoria did not violate the Fourth Amendment when they
raided a home to unmask the identity of the person who had been
operating a Twitter account that parodied the town’s mayor. Let me
reiterate to highlight the absurdity: A judge has ruled that the police
did nothing wrong when they raided a home because someone making fun of the mayor on Twitter.

Utah to BLM: Rein in your cops
“Public Enemy No. 1 for rural Utah
sheriffs just happens to be a fellow peace officer: Dan Love, the Bureau
of Land Management’s special agent in charge.
Elected law enforcement officers from Nephi to
Blanding call him an arrogant and dishonest bully who has little regard
for local authority and dodges accountability, derailing a collaborative
approach to police work on the state’s federal lands.
Love reportedly just laughed when Garfield
County Sheriff James “Danny” Perkins relayed ranchers’ complaints about
federal officers removing plastic feed tubs from the range and
threatening the ranchers with litter citations.
He drew early controversy during an undercover
probe of artifacts trafficking in Blanding in 2009. More recently, Love
led the BLM’s aborted roundup of Cliven Bundy’s cattle following an
armed standoff with anti-government protesters at the Utah-Nevada
border.”http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/news/58394443-78/blm-love-utah-law.html.csp

And Then They Came For The Bolt-Actions
"You can find them in every gun store in even the most restrictive
states in the nation, and with good reason; bolt-action rifles are among
the most ubiquitous rifles in the United States, and have been in deer
camps and military arsenals in the United States since the Palmer
carbine was used in the U.S. Civil War.
Now two separate gun control groups are attempting to restrict access to them."
"Now both the National Gun Victims Action Council (NGVAC) and Cease Fire PA are calling for additional restrictions for bolt-action rifles.
Elliot Fineman, the histrionics-prone CEO of NGVAC, has dubbed the most technologically advanced bolt-action rifle in the world, the TrackingPoint PGF (Precision-Guided Firearm), a firearm suitable only for terrorists:
http://bearingarms.com/came-bolt-actions/?utm_source=thdaily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl
No anti gun news would be complete without an outrageous claim that's proven to be an outright lie...
"Ceasefire PA, a state gun control group in Pennsylvania, is using the recent shooting of two state troopers by a law enforcement-hating military reenactor to call for increased restrictions on all long guns.
The Truth-
"It will probably come as a surprise to no one that Ceasefire PA is dramatically lying with their claim.
According to the FBI, long guns accounted for 622 murders in 2012 (322 rifles, 303 shotguns), and 1,205 in 1996 (532 rifles, 673 shotguns, according to Table 20). The number of people murdered with long guns hasn’t doubled… it has roughly halved."
"The attempt to target long-guns comes after numerous media outlets sympathetic to gun control curious chose last week to abandon their 30-year fixation on so-called “assault weapons.”"
We knew there had to be a part two...

Police say a gunman used a .308-caliber rifle to shoot two state troopers, one fatally, on Friday.
Today, Cease Fire PA called for tougher background checks on weapons just like it in the capitol rotunda. The group, made up of mayors and activists from across the Commonwealth, called for expanded background checks on people buying long guns, such as rifles and shot guns.

Where’s the media? Left-wing anarchist charged with bombing congressman’s office on 9/11
"One thing is certain, if Eric King was a member of the tea party he would be a household name in cities across America today.
King, 28, was charged Wednesday with throwing two Molotov cocktails at U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver’s office in Kansas City, Mo., on Sept. 11, the 13th anniversary of 9/11, the Associated Press reported. The Democrat lawmaker’s office was empty at the time of the attack.
Adding to the volatility, King is white and Cleaver is black — Kansas City is a little more than 200 miles from Ferguson, the scene of weeks of unrest after a white police officer shot and killed an unarmed black teen."

Anti-gun Asshattery From Brady Bunch
The mental midgets at the Brady center are filing a lawsuit claiming the online ammo retailers who sold ammo to James Holmes, the Colorado movie theater shooter were somehow negligent.
What said mental midgets are trying to do is establish case law to support mandatory background checks for ammo purchases.
Gotta admit-this one is waaayyyy out there-even for the douchenozzles at Brady.
Even Commiefornia refused to pass a bill to make background checks for ammo purchases mandatory.
Back to suing the ammo retailers who sold ammo to Holmes-here's what the asshats claim they are suing the ammo retailers for-
“The lawsuit alleges that the websites negligently supplied Holmes with the arsenal he used to kill 12 people and wound at least 58 others by failing to use any screening mechanism to determine his identity or intent for the products,”
So,the ammo retailers now supply people with arsenals?
Where can I buy an arsenal online?
How much does an arsenal cost?
Since when do a handgun,semi-auto rifle, and a pump shotgun make up an arsenal? Hell, that ain't even a good start !
Let's play Brady's game for a minute-
The "screening mechanism" for online ammo sales is that a person must state that they are of legal age,and not prohibited by law from purchasing ammo-(it's in the fine print when you purchase ammo online)-your electronic signature counts as verification, plus someone over the age of 18 must sign for the package containing ammo when delivered.
Playing Brady's game for online gun sales-every online sale must,by law,be shipped to a FFL,and a NICS check undergone and passed before the sale can be completed.
So-exactly where is the "negligence? Where is the lack of a screening procedure?
Some states like Illinois, require a FOID,or firearms owner identification card, and this must be "shown" as proof that you can legally produce ammo when purchasing online.
There are well over 100 million gun owners-we shoot billions of rounds of centerfire rifle ammo each year, billions of shotgun shells, many billions of round of rimfire ammo-like the .22LR,.22 mag,.17HMR,etc.
It is simply not possible to "screen" that many ammo purchases-period.
This is just another in a long line of idiotic lawsuits filed by anti-gun zealots who's stated goal is to ban all civilian ownership of firearms-period.
Their misguided, uninformed attempts to ban handguns failed, their misguided, uninformed attempts to ban "assault rifles" failed,so now, they are going to attempt to restrict ammo sales in yet another uninformed, misguided attempt to gain ground in their efforts to ban firearms.
This is pathetic-they need to be made to pay all legal fees and court costs, the case needs to be thrown out of court, and the Brady bunch needs to be informed-in no uncertain terms-that there will be no more restrictions on ammo sales-online or otherwise-ever.
Here's the rest of the story...

The Sniper Insurgent
I got the link to this one from WRSA...
"The liar Elliot Fineman got me thinking about "military grade insurgent weapons" and specifically about sniper operations. Fineman makes the mistake of focusing on equipment instead of on training, but there are still lots of people who fail to understand that good equipment can't make up for poor skill.
Doctrinally the "sniper insurgent" falls into three skill categories, the names may change, but it is useful for understanding how precision rifle fires have been used in the recent COIN environments. In fact the Army COIN manual FM 3-24.2 of 2009 (a bit dated, but still useful) specifies three types of insurgent snipers.
Armed irregular.
Trained marksman.
Specially Trained Sniper."

Police Kill Woman, Charge Man They Were Trying To Shoot With Murder
"The man who police were trying to shoot when they killed an innocent bystander is now charged with her murder.
Police responded to Vixen Bar in Orlando, Florida, on Aug. 19 after a 911 caller told them a "gun wielding maniac" was in the establishment, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
Kody Roach, 23, ignored officers' commands to get on the ground, according to a police report obtained by the Sentinel.
Officers attempted to use a Tazer on Roach, but it was ineffective
because of his baggy clothes, the report said. Roach then allegedly
reached into his waistband, prompting police to fire, according to the
report.
"In order to prevent an armed individual from causing harm to any members of the public or to any of the surrounding officers, Ofc. Sanguino discharges his firearm nine times striking Roach at least five times," the report said."

Finally Waving the White Flag on the Assault Weapons Ban
"Twenty years after the since-expired assault weapons ban passed
Congress, Washington’s leading liberal think says it’s no longer an idea
worth pursuing.
The Center for American Progress is waving a white flag on banning assault weapons in a study out Friday titled “Assault Weapons Revisited.” CAP authors Arkadi Gerney and Chelsea Parsons argue that gun control advocates focus their energies primarily on expanding background checks and firearms licensing laws instead of pushing to prohibit assault weapons like the AR-15 rifle."

Tough guy cops take down 15 year old girl.
"Two Houston, Texas school
district police officers pinned a 15-year-old girl face down on the
floor on Tuesday because she didn’t want to relinquish her cell phone to
an assistant principal.
The girl, sophomore Ixel Perez, weighs 70 pounds, according to her brother. She attends Sam Houston High School.
In a video of the incident, one of the cops who tackled the girl can be seen ramming his knee into the side of her head, reports local CBS affiliate KHOU.
The incident happened after the teacher in Perez’s reading class busted her using a cell phone in class.
Student cell phone use is
prohibited at Sam Houston High. Students caught using cell phones are
required to give their phones to school officials. They must then pay a
fine at the end of the day to get their phones back."

It's the Politics, Stupid
"When the same groups constantly squawking about "protecting the
children" when the subject is making firearms illegal, refuse to OK a
good idea specifically designed to protect children, you can clearly see
their use of the word "protect" as a synonym for the word "disarm".

"Assault Weapon" and CCW Restrictions Associated With Higher Murder Rates
In a new study, Mark Gius, of Quinnipiac University’s Department of
Economics, has found that between 1980 and 2009, “states with more
restrictive CCW laws had gun-related murder rates that were 10% higher”
than those of other states. Gius also concluded that state “murder rates
were 19.3% higher when the Federal [‘assault weapon’ and ‘large’

n a new study, Mark Gius, of Quinnipiac University’s Department of Economics, has found that between 1980 and 2009, “states with more restrictive CCW laws had gun-related murder rates that were 10% higher” than those of other states. Gius also concluded that state “murder rates were 19.3% higher when the Federal [‘assault weapon’ and ‘large’ magazine] ban was in effect.” - See more at: http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/study-%E2%80%9Cassault-weapon%E2%80%9D-and-ccw-restrictions-associated-higher-murder-rates#sthash.44RrOUlY.dpuf

Something everyone should read-and understand.
You gotta hump your gear in the field,or you'll never know if the set-up you have is gonna work-or if it sucks.
Now is the time time find out if your gear and the way you have it set up works-not when you need it,and are counting on it.

Knife Sharpening Techniques+Testing Your Blade's Sharpness
A couple good articles on knife sharpening/blade sharpness testing from Field&Stream...
"Sharpening a knife so that it is keen enough to sever your limb, or, less drastically, skin and butcher a deer, really isn't that difficult. All you really need to render a serviceable edge is a stone, a little spit and a steady hand, and even the spit is debatable."

I use a 3 stone system from Smith's that has 3 different grit stones on a triangular block of wood, that has a base with two vertical supports which are notched so that the triangular block of wood the stones are attached to fit in the notches.
This is what I use to put an edge on every new knife I get-unless it's a custom made knife-then it is sharpened correctly from the knife maker.
The key is being able to hold the same angle while sharpening the blade.
I use a angle between 20 and 25 degrees, except for fillet knives, which I use an angle of around 15 degrees,a less steep angle allows for a wider cutting edge, but it dulls faster.
One other very important thing to remember is to use the same number of strokes on each side of the blade.
After using the 3 stones,I use a fine diamond stone, then ceramic "sticks". The ceramic sharpener can be either the set of sticks that goes in a wood block,or one of the pocket knife sharpeners that has both carbide and ceramic.
The last step in my knife sharpening process is to use a razor strop-or a wide leather belt-hey they worked for old-school barbers for a few centuries-so they obviously work.
In my pack-I carry a medium sized diamond hone that has a coarse and fine grit to it,along with one of the pocket sharpeners that has carbide and ceramic sticks, plus a diamond coated tapered rod for sharpening serrated blades.
Both of those products are made by Smith's-and no,I am not promoting their products, nor do I receive any compensation for mentioning their products-they just happen to make what I was looking for when I bought the shit. Plus there's the fact that the company has been making knife sharpening products for a very long time-like since the civil war era-or right after the war.
I've also used DMT sharpening products, they work great, then there's the WorkSharp-which uses a sort of sanding belts,Lansky makes good knife sharpening stuff,as does Boker, who makes Japanese sharpening stones-Gander Mountain,Cabela's,Bass Pro Shops, etc usually have good prices on knife sharpening products.
I use these guys sometimes...

As well as Smoky Mountain Knife Works.
Use whatever works best for you,the important thing is to always keep your knives sharp-dull knives are how you end up cutting yourself, and ruining whatever you are cutting-finding out you have a dull knife as you're skinning and caping the deer or elk of a lifetime is not a good thing, and could ruin the skin, which would ruin your trophy that you were going to hang on the wall.
Finding out your knife is dull during a survival situation also sucks-and could cost you your life-or the lives of your family.
Keep your knives sharp-all the time.
A dull knife does you no good.
Practice sharpening your knives until you can get a razor sharp edge on all of them in just a few minutes-which is easy to do,as long as you sharpened them right in the first place...
