When our ancestors did it there were way less people,a lot more game animals,a lot more forests,and there were no concrete highways,not many big cities,a lot less land cleared for agriculture. The math is close,in the U.S. there are only a very few areas remote enough that you could live off the land. It's a lot of work,but it is possible in the right place,the problem is the lack of places where it's possible to live off the land.
Havent done the math..... but if it is impossible, then how did our ancestors do it?
